People Of Avalon:
The Avalon Hotel
The eleven room hotel built early on at Avalon to house workers and management. In the beginning, the hotel was run by J.J. Vaden. At some point, likely around 1905, Mary Bell Carter, wife of George W. Carter, took over operating the hotel. C.B. Daniels, photographer and manager at the mill, was said to have lived in the hotel. Ida Summers, a school teacher, lived there for a while. From the source Mary Bell is standing at the left of the entrance with her daughter, Bert Carter[Bertie V. Carter ?].
